Who will climb the apple tree with me?

Let’s cling to its branches

And carefully inspect its fruit.

We’ll check the skins and
squeeze for firmness.

We’ll take a bite, hoping not
to be betrayed by surprise.

But if that happens, rotten ones
make great grenades for the yard.

And I can find peace because you climbed
the apple tree with me.
