Photography and Poem By Oliver Thompson

My life,
a pocket-sized
stint of time.
A toothpick in the jaws
of reality.

But I’ve had aspirations,
ever since I was young.
I’ve had numerous
views about the
state of the future.

Journalism was my dream
but time was taken up
by the reality of anxiety.
As it turned, songs echoed
in the back of my head.

Solitude never ceased
but tides shifted and
the anthem was snuffed out
of its flickering being.
Time ticked on
and the future
always promised.
