Photography and Poem By Mia Middleton
Lucy Walsh
Home among the crisp smell of paper
rippling pages break the silence
the smooth sliding of one yellowing page against the other
Lost in a world of colors
a world not her own

The Good Kid
The Obedient One
The Responsible One
just say yes
put on a smile

Yet love holds her heart tight
the duty coming naturally
friends, family, altruism
as an inexplicable feeling pushes her
to solve the evil that plagues humanity

A bright summer sunrise
warm on her skin through the leaves
the rough bark embracing her
at first like a single café light within the dark abyss
a tiny golden flame
It grows brighter
brighter
Brighter
Her soul lighting the world around her

Yet among the worn wooden bookshelves
the corners rubbed smooth
soft chairs like a cozy hug
a mix of old and new
the world of colors beckons her back
